He avoids any confrontations and believes in a blissful and content life. To become a patriot he will have to leave all his pleasures and work more as an individual. Be a more proactive member of his team. If he becomes a patriot his skills will be more useful not just as a big dog with his team, but also a sleuth who has good mystery solving skills.
